Who we are
TripGelt is a personal travel assistant operated by Standard.VC LLC ("we", "us"). Users share airline confirmation emails with TripGelt — by forwarding them to a private TripGelt address, or by connecting their Google account — and can then ask questions about those reservations on the web or by text message.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address and, after you verify it, your mobile phone number.
- Reservation details and loyalty balances extracted from emails you explicitly forward to your TripGelt address, or, if you connect your Google account, from travel and loyalty emails TripGelt finds in your Gmail and, when you ask about a booking you name, a one-off search for it (flights, hotel stays, car rentals, confirmation codes, traveller names, points and miles balances, dates and times).
- If you connect your Google account: the Google security tokens that authorize that access, stored encrypted and deleted the moment you disconnect.
- Your conversation history with the assistant, and minimal email metadata for audit.
- If you turn on trip update alerts: when you turned them on or off, and which version of the consent wording you agreed to.
We practice data minimization: full email bodies are not retained after successful parsing. When an email cannot be parsed, its content is kept for at most 7 days for troubleshooting, then deleted. Audit records of data access and messages sent are kept for 12 months, then flagged for deletion and erased about 7 days later. Deleting your account removes your audit records right away, however old they are; the only one we keep is a dated record that the deletion happened and was verified.
How we use it
Only to provide the service: sending one-time passcodes to verify your number and to sign you in, sending an opt-in confirmation once when you first verify your number, answering the questions you send us with conversational replies, sending a waitlist pointer, at most one per hour, if you text us while your account is still waiting to be opened, sending an account-opened notice once if and when your account is opened, sending occasional texts about new features, which you can turn off with “Tell me about new features” in Settings or by replying STOP, asking one-time account questions, such as whether you go by other names on bookings, sending trip update alerts about your own travel, the trips you share with TripGelt, which include flights, hotels, cars and other modes of travel, updates about your upcoming flights, such as changes to your flights or seats, cancellations, and reminders about options your airline offers, the departure gate or terminal when your airline emails one, plus notes about money you may be owed after a disrupted trip and updates on claims you make, sending one trip check-in a few hours after the last flight of a trip has landed, asking how it went, sending one question asking whether an airline gave you a case number after you tell us you have sent it a claim or a complaint, sending a check-in reminder before a flight when check-in has opened and no boarding pass for it has reached us, sending a boarding pass notice when your airline emails your boarding passes to the mailbox you share with us, sending a note-received confirmation when an airline emails you to confirm it received a compliment or a complaint that TripGelt sent to that airline's own feedback form for you after you said yes to sending it, all only if you turn them on, and maintaining security and audit records. If you connect your Google account, we use that access only to provide the same service: finding and reading travel booking and loyalty emails, and reading or — with your per-event confirmation — adding to your calendar, as described below. We do not send marketing or promotional messages.
We may use de-identified, aggregated information about claim outcomes, such as how often an airline pays cash instead of vouchers, to show members what to expect. It never identifies you, your trips or your bookings.
If you connect your Google account
Connecting Google is optional; forwarding works the same without it. If you do connect:
- TripGelt reads travel and loyalty emails from your Gmail, from the past 12 months and as new mail arrives: mail from airlines, hotels, car rental companies, booking sites and ticket sellers, and any email that looks like a travel booking or a loyalty statement. It keeps only the bookings and balances it finds, and ignores everything else without storing it. It never browses or reads the rest of your mailbox.
- When TripGelt cannot tell whether a booking or a statement it found is yours, it asks you by text before adding it.
- When you tell the assistant a booking is in your Gmail and it is not on file, TripGelt runs one search for that booking: the place you named, words like reservation or confirmation, and a date window. It reads at most 20 matching emails exactly like forwarded ones, keeps only the bookings it finds, and records that the search happened and how many emails it found, never what they said. It runs only when you ask, at most five times a day.
- Emails found this way are handled exactly like forwarded ones: reservation details are extracted, and full email bodies are not retained after successful parsing.
- Calendar access is used to read your upcoming events when you ask about them, and to add a flight to your calendar only when you personally confirm that specific addition — TripGelt never writes to your calendar on its own.
- With your permission, and only when you confirm each message, TripGelt sends the note you approved from your own Gmail to the address shown. It never sends anything else, and you can turn sending off by disconnecting Google.
- The Google tokens that authorize this access are stored encrypted. Disconnecting deletes them and stops all reading from your Google account immediately; deleting your TripGelt account removes them in the same single action as everything else.
TripGelt's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
SMS opt-in data is never shared
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
Sharing
We share personal information only with service providers acting on our behalf to operate the service (such as hosting and text-message delivery), or when required by law. We do not sell personal information.
Your choices
- Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts; reply HELP for help.
- Turn trip update alerts off at any time by unticking “Text me trip updates” in Settings, or by replying STOP.
- Disconnect Google at any time from account settings: your Google tokens are deleted and all reading from your Google account stops immediately.
- Delete everything from account settings: one action removes your reservations, stored emails, conversation history and audit records, verified table-by-table, with a deletion receipt.
